Our Programmes

The Jane Goodall Institute's programmes reflect the organization's holistic approach to wildlife research, conservation and education.

Whether we are training Tanzanian villagers in sustainable agriculture and forestry, partnering with African women to increase their access to capital through micro-credit or supporting thousands of children around the world in their desire to make a difference, we recognise the interconnectedness of all people, animals and the environment.

JGI UK continues to support Dr Goodall's pioneering research on chimpanzee behaviour - research which transformed scientific perceptions of the relationship between humans and animals.

JGI is also a global leader in the effort to protect chimpanzees and their habitats, and is widely recognized for establishing innovative community-centred conservation and development programmes in Africa.

Finally, Dr Goodall serves as a powerful role model for the Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots humanitarian and environmental education programme, which empowers young people around the world to make change in their own communities, and to initiate projects that help people, animals and the environment

Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots is the Jane Goodall Institute’s Education Programme for young people. It inspires practical positive action for people, animals and the environment by developing an understanding of how important a healthy planet is to human survival.

Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots: Mission Possible gives a whole host of activities and other resources for teachers that will help your class learn about their local environment and show how you can make a positive change to improve the future. Visit our website and sign your school up today!
