Celebrating the Life and Legacy of
Dr. Jane Goodall
Scientist. Conservationist. Humanitarian.
Jane’s Legacy Lives on.
Those who gather to give thanks do so for a life lived with extraordinary purpose, a woman who looked into the eyes of a chimpanzee and changed how humanity understands itself, and its place in the natural world.
Jane's journey began in the forests of Gombe, and from there reached every corner of the globe. As founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace, she spent over six decades proving that one person, armed with compassion and determination, truly can make a difference.
Her work continues.
The Jane Goodall Institute UK carries forward Jane's vision - protecting chimpanzees and their habitats, empowering communities, and inspiring the next generation of conservationists through the Roots & Shoots programme.
Jane always said: "What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make."
The greatest tribute we can offer her is to keep making that difference.

Give in Jane’s Memory
Jane Goodall spent her life fighting for a world she never stopped believing was worth saving. She asked nothing more of any of us than to do our part, however small.
A donation to the Jane Goodall Institute UK in her memory directly supports:
Chimpanzee conservation across Africa, protecting the habitats Jane first walked into in 1960
Community-led programmes that help people and wildlife thrive alongside one another
Roots & Shoots, the global youth network Jane founded to inspire the next generation to take action
Every gift, however small, keeps her mission alive.
"Don't Lose Hope" - Dr Jane's Final Words
In March 2025, Jane sat down for one final interview, a conversation she knew would only be shared after her passing. In Netflix's Famous Last Words: Dr. Jane Goodall, she reflected on her extraordinary life, the state of our planet, and the one message she wanted to leave behind:
"Don't lose hope. If you lose hope, you become apathetic and do nothing. But if you have hope, you roll up your sleeves and get to work."
This wasn't a goodbye. It was a call to arms.
